Between 2016 and 2021, the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate met in the stone hall of the Landesmuseum Mainz, while the actual seat of parliament in the Deutschhaus was being renovated. The 71-metre-long hall was divided in two by a high rack. The plenary seating was installed in one half, while the other was used as a "lobby". In agreement with the state parliament, a portion of the Roman stones that were previously displayed in the stone hall were placed in the lobby, provided that the interior space was left free for seating. In order to be able to continue to display as many stones as possible, the military gravestones were arranged in several rows one behind the other in the style of a Roman burial street. Once the plenary seating was removed in 2024, the hall will remain in its current state until the room divider with the internal technology will be dismantled as part of the museum's redesign and the hall is once again fully available for the internationally renowned collection of Roman stones.
