Gargoyle in the shape of a dolphin

This fountain figure shaped like a dolphin was discovered within the ruins of a large Roman building with underfloor heating. It was possibly discovered in its bathing wing. Modern additions have been made to the dolphin’s nose and tail fin. The remnants of the fountain bowl on which the dolphin was probably mounted were also discovered on the neighbouring site. Dolphins are thought to bring luck when displayed in the home.
