Fragments of a tendril frieze

Given that the four pieces of this tendril frieze, which represents very high-quality artistry, do not fit together, it can be assumed that they originally formed part of a longer frieze. Deep undercuts partially break up the acanthus tendrils. The fact that the frieze is double-sided means that it was used in a structure that could be viewed from both sides or as a retable.
