In this example, the three-horned bull, which is carved in the round, but only fragments of which have been preserved, was originally painted, as indicated by the remnants of a white base coat and red paint. Three-horned bull statuettes are frequently known from the eastern Gallic area and the Rhine region. The local deity, known as Tarvos Trigaranus, is associated with water and sources, but further details are unknown.
