Matzah bakery Joseph in Laufersweiler, 1937

The Joseph family runs a matzah bakery that supplies unleavened bread to communities both nearby and further afield, even in France and Luxembourg. This image shows the bakery’s Christian and Jewish employees with the rabbi (in the middle of the front row), who is checking to make sure that the matzah is kosher. On the left of the rabbi is Ruth Joseph (murdered), and on the right is Heinz Joseph.
