The brothers Julius and Hermann Baruch are exceptional sporting talents and win a multitude of German and international medals in wrestling and weightlifting for the club ASV 03 Bad Kreuznach in the 1920s. They become European Wrestling Champions in 1924 and win the German Team Wrestling Championships in 1925 and 1928. When the National Socialists come into power in 1933, they are excluded from the sport as Jews, and their businesses are boycotted. In 1938, Hermann flees to Belgium but is caught and imprisoned. He is then deported to Auschwitz and murdered there in 1942. Julius is deported to Buchenwald concentration camp in February 1945 and is murdered there shortly before it is liberated.
