This headstone is typical of the 12th century: Its text area is recessed and rounded off at the top. The Hebrew inscription states the deceased man's name, his father’s name and his date of death according to the Jewish calendar. The text ends with a final blessing.
This stone was erected at the head of the grave of
Mr Meshullam, son of Mr Kalonymos,
who died on day 12 of Kislev in the year 932 of the count.
May his place of rest be under the tree of life.
