She describes herself as a "photographic painter": For Rosteck, the basis is reality, the photograph. The composition is determined when the photo is taken and then, in a second step, edited on the computer. She then experiments with light and shade, colour changes, enlarging the detail or blurring, thus alienating the original photograph more and more. Step by step, she moves away from the character of a photograph – the medium of exact reproduction – making her works appear abstract. In doing so, she explores the relationship between photography and painting, which’s boundaries merge in her work.
Only on closer inspection do we recognize the element of water in the ornamental forms and rhythmic lines and the reflecting light in "Zellfließen". Rosteck's works show a different reality, far removed from nature itself, which is also the basis for her works.
