Baroque

This section revives the Baroque splendor of the electoral city of Mainz. After the destruction of the Thirty Years' War and the War of the Palatinate Succession in 1689, Mainz began to flourish for over 100 years, during which crafts, architecture, the fine arts and the sciences were appreciated and promoted. 

These can be experienced in this department through a selection of masterful paintings, sculptures, furniture and porcelain from the 17th and 18th centuries from Germany, France, the Netherlands and Italy.
